→local shopping street →Kitano shrine →Kamishichiken
Let’s start from Nishijin employment security office.
Go Wast.
Unicro(cloth shop) and Daiso(100Yen shop) on your right.
Cheap string and ribbon shop. In the wagon, 100JPY per one bag.
Kendo armor shop.
And swimming school.
This is next bus stop. From nearest bus stop from Public employment office to get here, it’s about 5min.
Nostalgic narrow street on your left.
Nishijin Kyogoku, you will see on your right.
Here was a downtown with movie theater before, it’s more than 50 years ago. And now there are some Izakaya restaurants.
An household dish shop. Everything looks very delicious.
Intersection, Senbon street and Nakadachiuri street.
Go straight to the local shopping street “Kitano”.
At the shopping street.

Market. this also popular. The day , all frozen foods are 50% off.
Japanese sweets shop opposite side of the market.

“Cyogoromochi” Japanese sweets shop on your right.
Three-forked road.
If you go straight, there is Yokai-street.
This is new experiment with old shopping street unite and art university. Students made Yokai art works for each shops in this shopping street.

This is the right way to get to Kitano shrine.
Please turn right the three-forked street.
You will see torii gate at the end of the street.
This is Kitano shrine.
Before cross this big street to get to the shrine, let’s see shops, they are popular among travelers and local people both.
Before cross the cross walk in front of the shrine, please turn left.
“Toyouke cya-ya”
Tofu shop and hey have restaurant here .
Tofu and Soy for tofu also good. My neighbor recommend me to try the soy.
This is my very recommend Japanese sweets shop!
”Sawaya”
Awamochi rice cake shop, they have eating area.
They have only two kind of rice cake, millet rice cake with bean paste and with roasted bean flour.
Go back to the Kitano shrine.
The approach to the shrine.
There are two gate to get to the main shrine.

The principal image is Michizane Sugawara, he is historical real existence person and god of the scholarship.
And the guardian animal is cow.
There are some statue in here, it is said that if you have something wrong with your body or wish to be more better somewhere (like run faster, become more clever etc…).

Exit the shrine from the east gate, there is a Itsutsuji-street. Around here is called Kamishichiken.
One of the Gokagai (五花街), red-right district.
Let’s go right.
Rice cake shop on your left.
“Oimatsu”
This is one of the most popular sweets shop for Japanese tea ceremony.
“Kamishichiken kaburen-jyo”
singing and dancing theater om your right.
There is a restaurant in there.
only in Summer season, they held beer-garden.
You could meet Geisya at there, reservation in advance would be better.

Sweets shop.
Beautiful cookies and cakes, good for souvenir.
Good mood restaurant, but I’ve not tried.
Kamishichiken area is over.
It takes about 2 hours. How was it?
You will find bus stop. turn right along by the bicycle shop.
Number 10: go to Shijyo and Gion area
Number 50: Kyoto station

There is my favorite sweet cracker shop near by.
“Tanaka jissei dou”
Many kind of sweet crackers are mixed in one bag, the price is only 250JPY.
I like ginger sugar coating cracker is the best!
